TURKISH HERITAGE DAY

[TurkishLibrary.Us]
“Turkish Heritage Day” is organized and will be presented, in collaboration with the Turkish-American civil society organizations mainly from New York, New Jersey and Long Island, in coordination with the Turkish Consulate General in New York and the Borough of Brooklyn at the Columbus Park in front of Brooklyn Borough Hall on Sunday, June 9, 2019.

“THIS SUMMER IN NEW YORK ALL AROUND IS READ AND WHITE”

As Turkish-Americans living in New York and its environs, it is of the utmost value for us to gather with our families and our Turkish and American friends at an event, from the  common ground perspective of a “Turkish community,”  regardless of any political orientation or intellectual differences.

With this understanding, “Turkish Heritage Day” is organized, and will be presented on Sunday, June 9, 2019 (starting on at 1:00p.m. to 6:30p.m.), with the contribution of Turkish-American civil society organizations mainly from New York, New Jersey and Long Island, in coordination with the Turkish Consulate General in New York and the Borough of Brooklyn.

Turkish Heritage Day” will offer a wide variety of activities, including the Mehter Band and Turkish folk dancing, a concert by the distinguished singer Mustafa Sandal, a demonstration of marbling (Ebru) art and Turkish shadow play (Karagöz-Hacivat), as well as other activities for our children and youth. The goal of “Turkish Heritage Day” is to enhance social awareness and to present our culture and our community to American society.

Another goal of this special and significant day is to organize an event, which will bring together at least 25,000 Turkish-Americans in a central area of New York in 2023, marking the 100th anniversary of the foundation of our Republic.

The preparatory work of “Turkish Heritage Day,” which is a civil initiative, is carried out by Turkish non-governmental organizations. The Turkish-American community has funded this significant and special event through its own means.

We welcome all distinguished members of our Turkish-American community, along with your loved ones and friends, to Columbus Park in Brooklyn.

New York’ta bu yaz; her yer kırmızı beyaz!”
