On behalf of the United Nations Security Council, below statement on UNAMID announced by the UNSC President, Ambassador Kairat Umarov at the media stakeout.
Council Members welcomed the joint AU-UN (African Union – United Nations) assessment report on phase one of the reconfiguration of UNAMID (United Nations–African Union Mission in Darfur) and the absence of negative consequences to date. Council Members commended the good cooperation between the Government of Sudan the United Nations and the African Union in regards to the implementation of phase one of the reconfiguration.
AGREEMENTS TO FINANCE THE PROJECT OF EXTENSION OF THE “BURNOYE” SOLAR POWER STATION TO 100 MW IN ZHAMBYL REGION SIGNED AT THE MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE

The goal of the project is to provide Kazakhstan with safe, reliable and environmentally friendly electricity through the use of solar energy. The project will expand the existing “Burnoye” solar power plant from 50 MW to 100 MW and increase the generation of “clean” electricity to 146 million kWh per year. To be put into operation in the second quarter of 2018, the “Burnoye” solar power plant will become one of the largest renewable energy sources in the CIS.”
COOPERATION AGREEMENT SIGNED BETWEEN ITER ORGANIZATION AND NATIONAL NUCLEAR CENTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

The National Nuclear Center of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC) and the ITER International Organization for Thermonuclear Energy have entered into the agreement on cooperation in various fields of activity.
The signing ceremony took place in Astana on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference: Meeting the Challenge of Sustainable Energy. The agreement was signed by Erlan Batyrbekov, Director General of the National Nuclear Center, and Bernard Bigot, Director General of the ITER Organization at the Congress Center, EXPO, Astana, Kazakhstan on June 11, 2017.
THE WINNERS OF THE ART PROJECT “YOUTH – FUTURE ENERGY” WAS ANNOUNCED IN ASTANA
The opening of an exhibition and an awarding ceremony of the art competition “Youth – Future Energy” was held at the EXPO Congress center on 11 June in Astana.
The project was initiated by the “KAZENERGY” Association in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan National Federation of UNESCO Clubs, and with the support from the Children’s Music School №1, Astana – UNESCO Club in the framework of the International exhibition “EXPO-2017”.
